• Has anyone ever built a screamer?

When I say screamer, I mean a high RPM engine. 7000+.

    If not why hasn't anyone?

The factory gm computer is limited to 7200, so you'd need to piggy-back the comp or use a stand alone, but it could be done, some of those gtp guys come pretty close to 7k.

most people dont do it because if you rev the motor that high very much you will collapse a hydraulic lifter... and not many people are that dedicated to switch over to a solid roller setup due to matinance issues

Our computer only goes to 6400, however above that, the spark and fuel tables use the same values. My plan for my spare 3800 is to shift at 7500 with a redline somewhere around 8k.

Does anyone know what kind of quarter mile times would be gained by this extended power band?

that depends on how much power you are making at thowe RPM

                        I knew that

What I mean is, does anyone have any kind of numbers that show the differences in individual cars with the rev limiter at different RPMs to give us a general idea what this particular goal could do for our own cars?

The point is anyone who would rev their motor that high would have a rebuilt motor to handle it. Nobody(i hope) is just raising their rev limiter for the hell of it without making other adjustments. HP peaks at 5200 and torque peaks at 4000.
