• GTP Injector Review

I bought some used 36lb GTP injectors awhile back for 40 bucks. I am going to be building a turbo setup in a few months. I was really bored on saturday night, so just for ****s and giggles, I decided to throw the injectors in. Now, my L36 is in an S10, but changing the injectors was very simple. It probably took me 45 minutes, but it is probably harder to do on an fbody because of the cowl.

What I found out is the GTP injectors are about 1/32 shorter than our stock 22lbs injectors. I read about this on here before, but thought it was only an issue on the newer fuel rails. It ended up not being an issue, except the passenger side front injector doesnt seem to be as deep as the others. I didnt like this but I have been driving the truck for a few days now and keep checking for a leak and there is none.

Once I got the injectors in, I fired up the engine just to see how it reacted. Lets just say it didnt want to idle. So I took out the laptop with HP tuners and changed the injector table. The engine now runs exactly like it did on the stock injectors, I cant tell any difference in the driveability.

I am now running 36lbs injectors on my stock NA beast because I was bored and I can.

Shouldn't notice any gain. His engine is mostly stock, so adding fuel would only make it run rich. Add to that the fact that he scaled the flow rates back near stock.

It feels exactly like it did with the stock injectors. Thats all I was hoping for. Im going to need the extra fuel for the turbo though. :D

well, I thought maybe he had a cai or something. I would think with a cai, bigger injectors would help even out the a/f mixture and notice a bit more power but I guess he has stock intake.

Even a full intake, headers, and exhaust wouldn't max out the stock injectors. Hell, I've got heads and a cam and I'm still not maxing my stockers (running 11.5:1 actually  )

I thought our stock injectors are 17lbs.

You ever think of swapping in a cyclone engine setup into that s10? My buddy did it and he stayed half a car ahead of me from a roll in my 99 eclipse gsx which runs mid 12's.... I'd consider it if I were you...

Of course I thought about a syclone engine. But I would rather have a 3800 than a 4.3. Syclone 4.3 are the only ones with a normal fuel injection setup, and are very expensive. Dont worry, my turbo 3800 will be easily running 12s soon and getting 25 mpg.

Another reason I didnt get a syclone engine is I plan on owning a complete syclone in the future. ;)

So how many lbs are the injectors on the 3.8. Are they 17 or are they 22. If someone besides RedFrk13 would answer it would be very helpful. I was reading on this forum (dont remember where) that the 19lb injectors from the stock mustang 5.0 was a cheap minor upgrade over our 17lb injectors. I got some recently because of the post but if our injectors are 22 then i guess the 19 lb injectors are a waste of time.

The people using the Mustang 19s have 3.4s.
