Yet another v8 swap. Here are the details I have a 93 v6 camaro auto tranny no mods no speed. I also have an lt1 long block no motor plate witch I think I will need innless old school excesory brackets can be used. I have been reading up on the swaps and yes I used the search but every one says you have to go to a v8 k-member but y cant you use the v6 one and make new holes for the v8 motor mounts. And o yeah im looking at going with the carbed intake from summit just because I can get cheep and good carb and distributor I know a distrubither will go in to the lt1 because it still has the gear on the back of the cam for one but im not sure if anything has to be dun or changed like distributor gear or something. I also heard you cant use the v6 radiator and fan. Why not do the hoses not fit that’s not that big of a deal and the fans I don’t see why they wont work not enough cfm’s compared to the v8 ones I guess.

    1. Will a v6 k-member work with new holes for the v8 I think the v8 holes are 2 inches or so further back than the v6
    2. Why wont the v6 radiator work and fan
    3. What if any distributor modifications will have to be dun (and for those who don’t know yes a distributor will fit under the fire wall it may have to be cut but it will fit)
    4. Excesory brackets I would like to use all the excesoried it gets kinda hot in south NJ during summer so Ac is very nice.
    5. If you disconnect the engine pcm will the brakes work correctly and will the abs work not such a big deal but nice to know
    6. im not sure but I think the v6 fuel lines and pump will work with FPR because 60lbs or so the v6 fuel pump puts out is to much but it might need a fuel pump booster for the volume
    7. and a tranny k-member im looking at a th350 tranny so will my v6 tranny k-member work or will a stock th350 tranny mount fit

and for the people that can only say sell the car and by a v8 car pleas do not post iv ben researching this for over a year and this is somthing i would like to do its diffrent alot of power and you have to love a carb

the v6 kemmeber will work but why not just buy a tubular BMR LT1 Kmember.
two the v6 radiator and fan wont work the fan cant cool the lt1 or a v8 for that matter.
The radiator wont work becvause the lt1 is reverse cooled. also it has other things that hook up to its radiator.
3 u need to cut away part of the cowl. i have photos i went old school carbed 350 in mine
the brakes will i havent tested the abs yet.
the v6 fuel lines and pump will work. u just need a FPR
    7. bmr makes a nice crossmember for the th350 opn lt1 cars i had to spread the hole a bit and make a slot due to it not matching up but thats the only problem i had with my bmr parts.

DONT BUY A V8 car. thers no fun in that thers no hard work and time spent making a v8 car a v8 car
only in making a v6 car a faster v6 or faster v8 car. its alot of work. but in the end its worth it.

i know a v8 swap will cost alot of money so if i can save a fue $$$ here or there like in the k member or fuel pump fans radiater hoses lines its money well saved im still paying off my 99cbr 600 i love that thing and now a large ticket for ridding a whellie down a verry bizzy school street in one of our biziest towns with crazy cops. sory off toppic but im trying to say i have to save money where i can even iff its not the most pratical but if it works it can be changed later. the project has just begun i pick up the motor and a fue extra parts my dad has around next weekend but im not planning on doing the swap atlest untill the end of summer for gas prices plus for now my stock v6 is running verry well for 140,000 mls on her

well i spend around 12000-15000 on my sbc swap. but i stopped counting at 12000. this includes suspenision parts and installation on the parts that needed to be welded. aka the trak pak and SFC's the rest of the work i did myself at a buddys house. i use my stock 3.4L radiator. some lt1 fans. and im all set for cooling. its the lil stuff that ends up adding up. not to mention 300 ona carb then another 500 ona weekend carb.
plus the STEAL i got on a new Rear end. well its used with 80k on it but the posi and gears are MINT. i paid 84 bux for it. 3.42 LSD now im hoping it will hold me over till i get another 3 grand to dump in a new moser 9 inch.
were u save money is reusing old wires. reusing old hoses if u can. reusing ur power steering lines rack. all the litle things. bolts end up totalling me around 400 dollars in the end.
