180 just drops in...not ses light.

160 most often gives SES light and causes the fans to run continuously as well as having the temp gauge turn off.

it is best to tune the fan off / on temps in relation to the new thermostat as well. either a manual fan switch or someting like a hypertech to actually reprogram the compter.

i went from just over half way on the stock temp gauge to just under halfway on the temp gauge when I switched to a 180 thermo. my fans a tuned for the 180 thermo and it does not go up in temp while ideling at stop lights. it just always stays below the halfway mark on the gauge.

in my 2000 camaro, i put in a 160 thermo with no codes, no loss of economy, fans dont stay on all the time and my temp gauge works....nothing is wrong cause of it

i dont see why it would be a problem if your fans were on all the time. if they were on all the time the engine should run cooler, which would make it perform better.

incorrect...the fans will come on at their normal stock temps which is well over 210*
