can somebody please tell me how much you are supposed to torque the rocker arm bolts on a 3.8L? i already did what the book said which was to set the valve lash and then tighthen the rocker arm bolt 1 and a half times. is this the right way because the rocker arms seem very close to the valve cover oil fill tube when i look through the hole

go from cylinder to cylinder. Tighten the intake rocker when the exhaust valve is just beginning to open and tighten the exhaust rocker when the intake is just about to close.

There is not really a way to set the valve lash. All you do is torque the bolt down when the valve is closed. The rockers are not adjustable on the L36.

As in the valves are open? Your pushrods may be too long. Stock length pushrods are 7.030" long. Comp sells 7.050" as the replacement length. When I put mine back together, i used a pushrod length checking tool to measure how long of a pushrod I needed before I ordered any and it checked to a 6.950" which is quite a bit shorter.

hey wicked how did you get the shorter pushrods
since i figured that they are agrivating my problem, i need 6.98" pushrods since the ls1 valves i am running in the heads are a tad longer
which means the longer push rods are just raising the rocker and causing it to compress the valve

How much longer are LS1 valves? If it is too much, the valvetrain geometry will be totally thrown off which will require adjustable rockers. After you correct the geometry, then you can check what length pushrod you need. BTW, Comp sells pushrods in many many lengths in .050" increments. If you need help with it email me at wickedsix98@hotmail.com
