  • anyone w/ aftermarket cam look inside

I recently completed my engine build up and swapin my 98 camaro. I had my heads and intake ported and matched, heads were milled .020, comp cam 206-212 ,512-520 final w IC of 108 and LS of 112,918 comp spring w/ titanium retainers. I also installed 30lbs accel injectors.I had my PCM tuned by Dave Buckshaw for all of this.
Now I have a problem though whenever I try to start my car sometimes it wont start unless I give it gas and when it does fire up, it idles up and down drastically for a sec or too. I had it at the dealer for an alternator replacement and they said they think my Idle air control valve might be bad anyone have any onther suggestions?

Could be MAF related but it's most likely the large injectors.

only thing you can do is go to smaller injectors or get the PCM programmed.

With just a cam, I doubt you need larger injectors. Try running that cam with the stock ones.

If you don't want to go through swapping the injectors and getting the comp reprogrammed again, possibly try a maft+ and lean out the base setting a little?

I'd try autotapping it first and see what is actually going on!

Thanks for info,I did have my pcm tuned for the injectors, but since I dont have an autotap, I'm going to have the car put on a diagnostic machine so that I can see what the readings are. Would anyone suggest the mini afc for the tuning this out if it needs it?

The miniAFC works really well, and its inexpensive, if your only issue is fuel.

well i hear dave is one of the best programmers, so if thats true then it shouldnt be the injectors especially if he tuned for them. im running 26 lb ls1 injectors If dave is as good as what people tell me then i shouldnt ave a problem with the injectors either.

On a cold start the computer isn't using the O2's just yet so it has to use the calibrations inside of the PCM to determine how much fuel to give it.. If they are not accurate it will start rough and kind of search for idle.. I've been there, ... and done that.

Put in a stock PCM with stock injectors and I bet it goes away... (that is if your MAF setup is still stock'ish).
