P&P heads with 3 angle valve job , P&P upper and lower intakes , P&P throttle body ,through some headers on ,Computer tuning , and a big cam would make some good power but I really doubt its enough to beat your friends Cobra Mustang.

Well it depends what year Z28 it is . If its a 93-97 LT1 Z28 then the 2002 and under cobra mustangs will give the LT1 a run for its money.
An LS1 Z28 is another story.

the new cobra's have are supercharged with 390 HP. The ls1's only have 310-325 with ram air, and mustangs weigh lighter. so a z28 can take a gt pretty easily (they only got 263 HP) but a cobra??

but now throw a supercharger on an ls1- you easily got 465 HP- enough to leave that cobra smeared all over the road

              ok.. enough cobra/ls1 hoopla..

If you want to do the mods listed above you need to be reallllly carefull with a cam and the rocker arms.. cause a high rocker arm ratio.. and a loapy cam.. well.. valve meets piston.. and you can imagine the rest..

Not that you cannot do both.. you jsut need to do some research and find a combo that works within the safe tolerences of the motor..

You guys are way underestimating the LS1. The 310-325 hp is "underrated" from GM. Those numbers are at the rear. The reason gm did that is so that the vette would always show more hp than the camaro at the dealer. About 95% of 98+ LS1s dyno at least 310hp at the REAR WHEELS. They are basically the same HP as the vette at the crank(around 350+).

                      thats what i was thinking.
the point is his V6 will never be able to out run a cobra no matter who tells you mustangs are slow. however slow his cobra may be, your V6 will be slower. its the facts of life.
sorry to burst your bubble. :(

                        True.
                        A guy here in town i know has a 2000 Z28,LS1.
All he has done is a cat-back.He did a dyno last year and was making 324hp at the rear wheels!!!
That would be like what , 350~370hp at the crank?

I bet there are some v6's on here that can outrun a new cobra!! I dont have any problem outrunning a 2001 cobra and they have 320hp!! If it is a 2001 or older have fun walking him but if it is a 03 you will need something on top of the heads cam and intake..

the problem w/ mustangs is that they lose a lot of hp through their driveline. we could prolly do 2000+ f-body w/ cat-back, 75shot nitrous, and a converter/tranny cooler package and beat a older cobra, and come close to a 03 cobra.

To beat a older cobra all you need is a 50 shot with full exaust and intake with stock gears.. The new ones dyno in at 370rwhp.. Look at my dyno with the 50 shot.. with the 75shot in it now it should be close to 300rwhp.. Heads, cam, intake, full exaust, and a 75 shot now your talking..
