  • $800-$1000 CDN Budget, Is a cam do-able?

Well just as the title says, Im thinking about doing a cam. I need the cam... springs... lifters? Timing chain? and ill need a tune or a way to tune it myself.

Whats cam should i go for? is there a cam like the GM hotcam for the v8 but in a v6 version?? so somthing like that?

I am willing to do the install myself if it can be done. Im not sure if you have to pull the heads? on the car or what...

I also got a pair of pacesetter headers with y-pipe as with a cam its really a good idea to do cam/headers at the same time...
like I said 800-1000MAX CDN... can it be done?

Thanks alot guys and any advice would be great!
    regards,

thats like 500-680 or so in us dollars right? You would need to either find a great deal on new parts and skip some of the optional(but recomended) upgrades or get used stuff. Might just want to save another 200-300 and do it right the first time. Thetuning will be at least 200 bucks more most likely.

Make sureyou have someone that reallyknows how to do a cam install, you'll really messit up if youdon't know what your doing. Be sure to do alot of searches and most give prices and parts lists so that would be a good place to start.

I got a complete cam kit (260 deg) from comp cams with the 1.6 ratio rockers and pushrods for $598 Canadian after taxes, that even includes a timing set... its very possible...

I recommend you hit a higher level distributer, my buddy's shop ordered out of MOPAC here in vancouver, BC. Lordco wanted about $800 for the same stuff.. before tax I think.
