Ok i have my car listed in sig, and the motor is starting to burn oil. So over the winter im goin to rebuild it with a cam that makes power from 1500-4500, mild headwork and headers. My shift points now have been set to 5500. the cam stops making power at 4500 and the headers help the top end after that. So my uestion is what would be te best shift point to get the maximum power outta the car?

This would require some calculation and a dyno run. Basically you want to calculate the amount of horsepower that reaches the driveshaft in a given gear at a given RPM....so (HP/Transmission gear ratio for given gear) - then you calculate that for say first gear.....then for second....when the hp at the driveshaft in 1st gear equals that in second is the best time to shift....this can be done for all gears and will be slightly different because the gear rations are all the same.
