    • I was reading russell's posts during his engine rebuild and head/intake swap and mentioned a lot of problems and tweaks he had to do. I was just wondering since then has anyone came up with aftermarket aluminum heads that swap out with no fabrication needed and how much does it cost (ballpark) to get the stock intake manifold ported?

        • maybe its just me, i guess i dont have the "v6" pride but why not drop the V8 and work with a much more capable engine...why does everyone wanna put soo much strain on a 3.8L that clearly was not built for 300+ hp or 800 for that matter LOL! if ur gonna be spending soo much cash why not just do it right?

there's more than one way to skin a cat. compare what what it takes to make an 800hp v6 to what it takes to make an 800hp v8. there's a big difference. it's all about overcoming the odds to me. you wanna throw in a v8? perfectly fine. nothing wrong with that. just don't whine when i blow you away and you get beat by a v6. • I got my 3.4L free with 70k miles. I'm investing 3 grand right now in suspension and exhaust. Then the engine and tranny =D.

                      • Jonathan, the later the Gen 3 engine the better for your purposes, but before you go buying another engine, make sure that the top of the engine will fit under the windshield lip on the F body - that looks darned tight under there and there isn't a lot of room for higher intakes.

If you can fit the late 3400 top stuff, that would be the way to go, although why not spend a bit more and work with either a new 3.5 or 3.9?

Even though they are new, soneone somewhere is sure to get T boned and a low mileage engine will hit the wreckers!

Besides, having a 3.9 will give all the guys with 3.8 engines an inferiority complex! :D

                            • First off I'm a step 30 and money isn't an issue I'm gonna make this car whip and I want aluminum gen 3 heads and the plenum from the Grand Am GT 2000+. Russell did this and he was able to beat a stock z28, I put turbo and nos and I think I"ll be good.
