  • Sumping Fuel Tank

How should i go about this. i have no idea where to start besides drain the fuel and pull the old fuel pump. i want to do this with the tank on the vehicle. how should i make the sump for it and what not. if any one has ever done this your insight would be greatly appreciated.

    So.. I haven't added a sump.

I wonder if someone sells the swinging pickup/tank like found in some 1le cars or race tanks that come with a sump?

I'm thinking of adding a surge tank that is fed by the intank pump. One outlet (top) of this surge tank returns to the gas tank the other (bottom) feeds an inline pump to the fuel rail. I'm getting this idea and (using the tank) from how Ford set up some of their first fuel injected Vans. I would guess that this surge tank holds about 2 cups of fuel.

This is the setup that I am running. You will have to remove the fuel tank to get these welded in.

The tank isn't too hard to get out really. It makes things a lot easier if you have 2 people dropping it and putting it back in. You can reuse the straps as long as you don't bent them out of shape too bad.

Drop me an E-mail about where to get the part.

i was under the car today trying to finish off removing the LCA's and they are frozen so imma have to cut them off or get someone to bring over an impact wrench or go buy one, but any way i was looking at where the fuel tank is, and the bottom and rear of it is right above the exhaust, im not sure there will be enough clearance for me to sump it, if you got photos that would be great so i can get an idea what you did and maybe that would help me more

im also thinking about just doing it the way someone once suggested by removing hte old fuel pump from the tank and running a hose down to the bottom if i was to do this i would be using this http://www.howeracing.com/FuelOilSys...FuelPickUp.htm will this work, or am i going to have to do the sump?
i found out from the company that this will work, but they arent sure how well. i just wanna make sure that it wont fry my fuel pump. so if any one knows that be great if you let me kno.
