  • POR 15 RUST PREVENTIVE PAINT

They say you can paint it directly on clean, dry rust and it will totally lock it in from moisture and 'kill' it. I bought it cause the price is right what do you guys think? Anyone use this stuff before?

I used por15 on my 69 camaro and had great results, but follow the instructions. Make sure you treat the metal first for best results. Use the degreaser to clean the parts first and then apply the metal ready. Metal ready actually converts the rust back to metal and primes it for the por15. If the area is exposed to sun, you need to apply a top coat. If your applying a second coat, its best to do it when the first coat is almost dry where you can still leave finger prints in it. If you let it completely dry, you should scuff up the paint and apply the second coat.

**** your from sturbridge!! HAHAH I was born in Southbridge I always played down at the Miracle Maze when I was a kid. Small world! I'm gonna apply it to my rear axel and my front control arms. I was thinking I'm going to have to take everything off and paint it down. Will I have any problems with bolts fitting in again after I apply a couple coats?

Moved here almost a year ago from CT. Its nice here. I would remove everything before you paint. It makes it so much easier to paint. POR is thick so you can use a brush and not have brush marks. You shouldn't have any problems with bolts fitting after using it. I painted the brand new moser 12 bolt in my 69 with por and it came out great. I would still apply the chassis coat black over the por 15. The chassis coat black is flat and the por is glossy.

Remove everything? I thought all I needed was to Marine clean/ Metal Ready/ Then coat with por??? I thought it was better to paint onto the rust itself?? I would've done it by now lol..

Sorry, what I meant was to remove as much of the big rust that comes off. If its just surface rust, lightly scuff it with some steel wool, marine clean, metal ready and por15.

Well I'm mostly stock for the moment. Trying to get the car running smooth and then get high flow cat, headers, adjustable suspension and ****. Then drivetrain and turbo
