• Cam swap etc finished

Ok, after almost two weeks, I have finally finished the head gasket repair, cam swap, and headers. I finally got all the quirks and bugs worked out. The car runs and sounds GREAT! It doesnt lope alot but just barely, so if you have a trained ear, you'll know. The headers made my exhaust louder, but now the sound turns into gay V6 rasp at around 2500 instead of before at about 3500 with my borla on. It runs pretty smooth over the powerband, except for off idle. It has to do with the no cam sensor situation, causing my engine to batch fire. Havent gotten a chance to go full throttle and up to the redline, I want to play nice for a little while. All-in-all very satisfied. And definetly glad to be back in my camaro rather than my freinds 1987 Nissan 200SX with around 85hp. :( The cam is a GM Performance Parts cam. Here is the webpage/info:

And of course the headers are pacesetter. Anyways, very satisfied and happy.

What type of Borla set up are you running that it sounds raspy?? I am going to get the entire cat back system and was under the impression it does not sound raspy.

I just have a borla rear section. But all V6's are going to rasp, just depends on by which brand you get, when its going to rasp. But it doesnt have a nice tone though. I would really call it rasp, very different from say a flowmaster rasp. But anyways, I am so happy because its been dont for 2 weeks, and I was driving it all day yesterday. Sure does feel like a different car. ;)

Well under much rsearch and thought, this is what I decided to do. Due to time constraints, it was either a choice of a stock replacement cam from autozone, that would have costed me $118, or use this aftermarket cam that will batch fire, that I already have. So I chose the later. Also, I might be going to the track when it cools down, and I know for sure everything is running correctly. Thanks guys, ;)

Borla sounds raspy because it's stainless steel.

not true, the sfi is all about gas milage & emissions, dosen't have any affect on power

Well I could go either way actually. To be, ok if your batch firing, there is no doubt you are getting all the fuel you need so thats not a problem, but it seems to me that SFI is just pure precision. Even if it might have gas mileage and emissions in mind. Let us not forget that even the almighty LS1 is SFI. Obviously since all cars are run by computers these days, you are to assume that the computer knows that perfect equilibrium of fuel to put in with this air being sucked in. Or in some cases forced in. :( I want a turbo... or two. :D
