  • Removed PCM, car wont stay running

I needed to get to the fire wall so I started removing the top screws on the PCM. I realized I could take out the whole housing or whatever it is, so I out it back in. Then I went to start it up. It will turn over and run really rough for about 2 seconds then it dies.
    Why?
    Thanks for any help.

might want to completley remove the connetors & check for bent pins. If everythign checks out, it gives you a chance to verify the connectors are fully seated before retightening.

Everything looks like its in good shape. The PCM slides into place nicely and everything.
If I give in gas on start up, it will run a little longer, like maybe 4 seconds. So it feels and sounds like maybe its running on 5 cylinders. Its really shakey and deep.
I'm at a loss, how can taking out my computer and puting it right back in have anything to do with this.
There isnt a re-learn process or something is there?

What did you do to get it running?

              Yeah, what was it...
Also, why did you need to get to the firewall?

Easy fix, I disconnected the negative battery cable for a while so that all the RAM information in the computer would be lost.
Of course it also lost all the memory for shift points and stuff like that, so it runs kinda crapy for now. Better than a fried PCM though.

Also, why did you need to get to the firewall?
I was running wires through it in the hole that is already behind the PCM so I wouldnt have to drill another one somewhere.
