  • o NO... Car Probs After Cam Install

Ok, so this is whats up. I install the cam and rockers tonight. All is well when i start the car.. i do hear clicking but that just means i need to readjust the valves, this may be the problem.. but ill continue. so after letting it idle at 2k for 30 min i go and take it for a test drive. the first 2-4 minutes were perfect.. no misses and lots of power... but after that my car stumbled and stumbled and i couldnt keep the damn thing running. if i would stomp it... it would accel but stumble HARD on the way up. Example..

    my rpm gauge as follows.
1k...stumble.. 1.5k... stumble etc.. it was like it got power and then lost it and make my car die... but then awakened again. Im puzzled. Oh, and i also got a service engine soon light.

As i was told this cam is computer compat. im thinkin this... the cam isnt computer compatable... or i broke something expensive... or my valves are causing the whole problem. i dont know. anyone know what is up with my car?

What engine, what cam, what rockers?
Stupid me, I see the sig now.

How loose are the rockers or how bad is the tapping? You sure you have everything back on right? ANy SES codes?

Try this first: Get a short length of hose. Maybe 3 feet. Start your engine, put the hose to your ear then put the other end in and around the engine. Trust me, you'll find the leak if it's there. You'll hear a big difference in the sound. Try around your EGR valve.

When I put mine back together I had my EGR valve on backwards and had a huge leak. The hose found it :)

yeah, ive also found a exhaust leak from my headers. looks like i need to retighten the bolts again. yay. im gonna tear the engine down again tomorrow and re tighten my rockers. ive found that spinning the pushrod until you cant spin it and then tightening it a half a turn will make your rockers perfect. i did the up and down method with the pushrod and then 1/4 a turn. much too loose.

ill try the hose method and see what i can find.

                  thanks

At least I stuck it in my ear to listen for leaks. I'm not even going to mention what Kris did.

Alos make sure that you have enough clearance between each rocker when you tighten them.
