magnus, my cam is a regrind. i sent it to tom and tom sent it to crower. tom wanted .5/.5 lift but crower gave it back as .47/.47 lift. tom said it would not affect anything and so we kept it.
good to hear about the smoking. everything is looking good now.
i do get that wierd sound from the engine at 2500 rpms, but as for noticing anything i dont just yet.
i will definately tell you everything as soon as i know. i wont have time to hit the track till april though.

on a 114 lobe separation???? thats way too much!!, i bet it would run a lot better with less! like maybe 110, thats a little much for a street deal!

I spoke too soon!!! if this was carbureted, 114 is way too much because these heads dont flow that good, but i was told that the new fuel injection has to have that much separation because it messes up the computer if you dont have that much

darnit! low oil light is back on!!!!
it would not scare me as much if i have not died out twice already. should i take it to a dealer and see what they tell me. oil level is perfect and there are no leaks.

Watch going to dealers alot of them think there isnt anything you should do aftermarket to vehicles, i would go to a machine shop. 114 ls is not to much if your going to use nitrous, thats what the big lobe seperation is mainly for its a nitrous cam :D

bluecamaro is right, try taking it to a performance shop, not the dealer.
As far as lsa, that not that bad mine is 112, and I've never had it die out on me. Nino, that may be the reason your car is dying out. Your lsa is pretty large, but that's just a guess.

nino, I got your e-mail. Here's the whole situation on my low oil light. when the install was first finished, we used the same timing chain, it threw off the cam (the chain was stretched) and I had valve clatter. That sent little pieces of metal from the pushrods into the oil. We drained the oil and took off the oil pan to make sure that wasn't any extra pieces in the pan. At that time my mechanic told me he noticed that the level sesor (the thing that goes into the side of the oil pan) had a wire that was exposed and it probably grounded out when the metal was floating around in there. And that's why I'm getting the low oil light. I havent had a chance to change that sensor. But I plan to soon.
One thing that makes me think, is "why is your cam kicking in so early in the powerband?" I'm not an expert on cams, but I would think that a cam that big wouldn't kick in until 4500rpm or higher. Once you break it in (500-1000miles) you better get it on a dyno. That'll show you exactly where the power kicks in.

both times the car has died the check gauges light came on and i noticed my oill pressure hit zero. still afterwards the pressure went back to normal and the car ran fine till it did it again.
thanks again for your alls help and concerns

Narrow LSAs tend to increase midrange torque and result in faster revving engines. Wider LSAs result in wider power bands and more peak power, but have slower initial response. The engine also has a higher vacuum and smoother idle.

when the car is off you will have no oil pressure.

I'm also curious why his cam kicks in so low.. with his increased duration AND higher LSA.. he should be making power way up there.

When you get on it let us know how it is.

you know how you turn the key, but dont start the car- you gauges work still. well when my car died out the gas gauge still worked, but oil pressure showed zero.
is it safe to take the car to the track now? i didnt want to race it till i put 500 miles on it. i am at 300 now and will prolly be at 400 by friday (track night) i still have other mods i want to put on, but i guess we can see what the power pack added alone. i still have slp CAI, bmr weld on relocating brackets, fan switch, drag radials. i will not go the track without my DR cause of what happened last time. i'll let you know.

The motor needs to be spinning to turn the oil pump to build pressure..

in the on position with the motor off your psi should be 0..

You might want to change the oil again after a few hundred miles.. but I'd say its safe to go to the track..

20 miles after my install.. and a few good heat cylcles.. and an oil change.. I was on my stuff HARD!

I took it out for a drive yesterday. I put maybe 50 miles on the car and burned half a tank. Most of it was WOT.

I'm hoping to hit the track Sunday.

justin, i prolly will when i get back into town where it was installed. i dont think they had anything to do withthe low oilw light coming on though. i really think it is just a sensor going.
btw, where did you get those 3800 V6 badges? those look sweet!
