I was watching 3 of my friends do this free mod on their LS1's the other day. Im not too familiar with the LS1 free mods, but it consisted of a part of the throttle body (the outside) being shaved down a little with a dremel so that the TB linkage hammer went a little further, thus resulting in the butterfly opening more.....MY QUESTION IS...lol...can we do something like this on 96-98 cars (with linkage)? Magnus? Anyone?

You say it has to open at 90* to be fully open, which I understand. But does anyone know about how many degrees our TB butterfly opens at stock? And has anyone done this to their v6?

Due to the fact that nothing is absolutely the same when manufactured some open more/less. When researching this I heard that some versions of scan-tool software reported the butterfly position in degrees, and some in voltage. My OBD-II program reported it in volts.

LOL for that matter couldnt I just open the linkage with my hand and look inside? And my frends used a voltometer(is that what its called?)

you cant use the throttle posision angle, because if your foot is to the floor, it will say 100% (assuming GM cheated you out of free hp). you can use a volmeter too...you have to put it into the wires coming out of the TPS. i think theres three of the, not sure which ones are the right ones. you want it to open up to 4.69 volts. autotap will that this feature too, but again, you cant go by the throttle angle because it will be off.

You can. When I had my tb off to do the p&p on it, the butterfly was opening all the way already. If you make it turn more, it will start closing again, on the other side. Also if the tps reads too far it will set a code. So yes you could, if it was off. But it's probably not off. Hope this answers your question.
