I tried getting some feedback from the general tech, I did a search, but noone has been able to give me a positive answer about this: I installed a 160* thermo and for about a day my engine ran fine and all the gauges were good temp was about 180. then one day while cruing down the highway the temp gauge just dropped and went down to the 100 mark and stayed there. Soon after the SES light turned on and has stayed on. It has been like this for about a month now and I was wondering if there was a way to get it to normal before takig it to the Dealer. Can I just put in the stock thermo and reset the comp? or just reset the comp? Could my gauge be busted. My fans are on from the moment the car turns on til i shut it off. Any ideas about that too?? Please help, I am about to go on a trip and I want my car close to 100% before i head out. Any help will be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

When your fan doesn't turn on, is the AC off? The way that our cars were designed, for some reason, is that the radiator fans will come on when the AC is on, but when it is off, and you are idling for a few minutes, your temp will begin to rise and the fans will not kick on until about 240 degrees. I don't know why this is, but it happens on all of our cars. If you have your AC on and the fans don't turn on, then you have another problem. I think that you can change this with the HPP, but don't know for sure because I don't have one....also, you could do the fan mod which would allow you to turn your fan on at any time.- Josh
If you have any questions or need installation pics/help, e-mail me: Viper98885@aol.com
\'93 Camaro Hardtop
\'01 Lincoln LS8 Sport
\'00 Yamaha YZF-R6
Full Throttle Performance

hey didn;t mean to make you mad try checking to make sure one fo two things didnlt happen a bad stat. If this is true you could e stock in an open loop mode if this is true you might be loosing rather than gaining. Also make sure your relay isn't stuck tap on it a few time located under the hood. Hey i don;t mean to be an @$$ either but i'm trying to fix mine as well. There are few parts in the circuit. The fan, wires, relay and two sensors that run to the computer. My new ride 2000 camaro, No mods yet still waiting for warranty to run out then all out heads, cam, and supercharger

I had that problem, the dealer replaced my temp sensor and it came back a few days later.
Turned out the thermostat was stuck open.
Take it out & see if it is open, if so, put your stock one back in & return the defective 160* thermostat.
The reason your temp gauge shot down to 100 is because the computer said "Hey! I'm getting bull**** from this sensor, those readings can't be right! OFF YOU GO!". It just turned off the sensor because the open stat was putting the readings outside the comfort zone.
With the sensor off, your cooling fans will always be on if the car is, its a safety measure to avoid overheat.
