I would think this mod would only hurt performance. EGR is used to cool the combustion temp and a cooler temp equals better performance. it just doesnt make sense to me.

EGR reuses unburnt fuel in the exhaust. You wont lose anything or gain anything. to me for continuing a 2 year old thread

If you guys want to remove your EGR completely and not throw any SES codes Intense sells a "Tech Edge" EGR simulator.

          http://www.intense-racing.com/

It's at the bottom under Electronics.

I used it on my 98 since the EGR mount was about the only place I could put my FMU. It ran fine with no codes.

I now have HP Tuners so there is no need for the simulator if anyone wants to buy mine for $50 let me know.

I've had the zzp EGR sim for about six months now, works perfect!

You guys have the wrong idea for what an egr does. It does not recycle unburnt fuel from the exhaust. It takes burnt exhaust and sends it back through the intake. Because the exhaust is already burnt it cant be burned again. So it decreases the amount of air in the combustion chamber that can be burned. this causing less power and decreased temp. But EGR will not work at wide open throttle. It only works at partial throttle. So disabling the EGR system will not give you any power gain at wide open throttle. Its kinda a waste to even disable the egr for that reason.

The sim was cheaper than replacing the egr hose that I broke putting the headers on. that's why mines off.

I just took out my EGR assembaly (during CAM install). I got two block offs from ZZPerformance (one for the intake and one for the exhaust). I used HP Tuners to delete a few codes and the car runs great.

Five less pounds to drag down the strip.
