I throw no codes. I have a Air intake temp too high code, but that was there before the cam swap. No other codes have been set off. It kind of does sound like its going to die, but it never has. I have drove it alot and I havent had it die on me once.

So when I lean it out is it going to be even more powerfull? Or wont I notice a difference? Oh and by the way, I just ordered my MiniAFC from ZZP. Has anybody used this yet?

I am getting it dyno'd on April 5th.

depends how rich it is. sometimes running rich will get you more hp. the tuning will be to be mroe efficient and pass smog if u have to. i don't think you're running as rich as u could have been tho, because i've heard that the removal of the maf screen will lean out the car a little. I dunno how true this is, but i figured i'd throw this out there neway.

Running it leaner may only solve part of the problem at idle. Sometimes because the engine breaths more from the heads/cam, people have had to give it more air to idle well. Tom at SuperSix told me that a trick in the EFI world is to let more air bypass the TB at idle which give the engine the air it needs to idle smoothly. You could probably drill your TB blade to get more air in there while you're not under acceleration.

He doesn't have a problem at idle, that lope you hear is how cams with duration and smaller lobe seperation angles sound. Mine does that some but not as much as his. All he needs to do is lean it out between 4,500 and 6,000 rpms, that's where he'll be when racing.

There's an LS1 in town here that lopes so bad that between each group of 4 cylinders firing the headlights dim to a nice orange color before the next 4 fire to brighten them back up.

Also getting a bigger bore tb might help also. if this doesn't fix it completely, then u'll have to drill the tb. remember, small holes first. u can take away, but adding is much harder.

I dont think I want to be drilling any wholes. I did just purchase the ZZP MiniAFC last night. Soon as that gets here I will try to lean it out some and see what happens. I would rather get an LS1 TB then drill wholes.

will the mini afc mess with the fuel and timing or just fuel? Is it better than maft+? im having dave buckshaw program my pcm and he wants me to bring the car to him so he can see how everythings doing and fine tune in case its running to rich or to lean so i cant wait

Who is Dave Buckshaw? Can he do the same for my car?

MiniAFC will not adjust timing. It adjust fuel only. I dont know if its better then MAFT but its alot cheaper. I only paid $99 for it. After I install it I can tell you if its any good.

quote:
How does it sound like its running rich? I didnt know you can hear that

yeah the idle and just the sound of the car, I had no idea u were all the way to 900 + but thats a quality in sound thing. Im probly one of the underrated techs around. I was right about my buddies Camaro, he was lean by a small percent and he gets much better times now that we've fixed the problems, about .2 off teh 1/4th - Id say dyno it and be ready to adjust fuel air on the dyno so u can see the difference.

                          • I have this cam now! A friend of mine has a video clip of my first dyno pull with it...dyno'd 191.4rwhp even with the computer pulling a TON of timing thanks to false knock. I fixed the knock issue, and should be dynoing again in a week and a half. I'll try to get that video clip or get someone to take a new clip for me soon.

                            • Glad to hear you got my cam in there.

That cam is capable of so much more though. I had 194RWHP before I installed the cam. I am very suprised you have false knock with that cam. Because I had none. I am also not so sure my knock sensors were even working because I had my car hooked up to autotap right before it seized and it still measured 0 knock. And it was knocking so bad I could hear it a mile away.

I no longer have a copy of my soundclip. Had to format the HD. If ANYONE HAS A COPY PLEASE EMAIL IT TO ME. Thanks.

My car is considered one of the strongest V6's around here, and it had nowhere near 194rwhp BEFORE the cam. This cam made a really nice difference, woke my car up alot! I now love taking it above 4K rpm's, whereas before I would only do it in a race and even then I didn't like it since it felt like it ran out of breath. Thanks for the cam!
