  • aldl port not working

Well my SES light is on, so instead of calling up my friend with a obdII scanner I bought one myself a scanner. Well it doesn't work for some reason on my car. It works just fine on my mom's truck so I know it works. So I checked the aldl with my voltmeter.
FYI pin 4 is ground and pin 16 is power.

Well I don't have power between pin 16 and 4, this is needed to power the scanner.

Voltage on between pin 16 and frame is 0 as well

I checked the resistance between pin 4 and the frame and i'm getting 10.1 ohms. It should be between 0-5 ohms

Voltage on between pin 4 and frame is 0.2 Shouldn't this be 0?

    The battery is charged btw.

Has anybody else had experience with this?

This is probably a stupid question, but is the key in the ON position?

we don't have ALDL port, we have OBD-II port.

Look for new pinouts, perhaps you are using the wrong ones. They don't sound accurate to me if I can recall correctly. I was playing around with the port a few weeks ago to.

You have the right pin configuration. I would know since I just double checked my brother's wiring job on his 3800 SII S-10. Which still doesn't start for anyone who's interested in helping out.

Does the horn work, as it's supposed to run off the same ciruit. Is the fuse OK?? If not you can always rewire it.

I found the problem... It was the Cigar/Accy fuse...
