it shouldn've overheat at all... even if you're stuck in traffic on 100 degree day or going 120... make sure your cooling system is operating properly.

they make this stuff called "water wetter" you put in your cooling system and it drop you motor temp WAY down, my friend put it in his 79 camaro and it stoped over heating droped the temp 30* at idle and 50* going down the road lol

I think you need to consider some additional cooling issues if you plan on any extended high speed driving like you have described above.

The engine temp gauge in the 2000+ cars seems to park itself at 210 degrees even though the water temp can get much higher. The stock cooling fan turn-on temp is something like 227 degrees, but you'll never see that on the gauge. My point here is that even if the temp gauge says you are at 210 degrees you could be running quite a bit hotter. And this is water temp.

Even if the radiator can handle the water temp what about the oil and transmission temps. You don't have a gauge showing oil or transmission fluid temp. If you compare the V6 f-body to European cars of similar engine size, you will likely find engine oil coolers and much greater crankcase oil capacity. Our V6 only holds 4.5 quarts of oil. The engine oil is what takes the heat away from the bottom of the pistons, engine bearings, etc. Without an oil cooler, the heat has to make its way into the block to then get transfered into the cooling water. Only so much heat can be transfered into the cooling water that way. None of this is an issue at the speeds driven in the US. It is a matter of high loads over long times that will really heat up the oil. Same for the transmission fluid, although with the torque converter locked up maybe that won't be too much of a problem. Adding external engine oil and transmission coolers would be in-expensive and would certainly extend the life of the engine and transmission when operated at high speed.

Regarding your lower HP rating, could the differenced between DIN and SAE Net horsepower account for the different ratings?

And as a mod, how about using the export Z-28 muffler with the single tail pipe. It would probably look stock on your car and should flow better than the V6 muffler.

the ram air blocks the radiator, that could cause problems when running that prolonged time and speed.
