got a '00 PCM from a Junk Yard

  • got a '00 PCM from a Junk Yard

    the guy at the junk yard didn't know is this pcm was from a A4 or M5 Camaro. i think the part number is 9380717 but i will confirm this number as soon as i got the pcm in my hands (tomorrow morning).
    would this pcm work in the case it's coming from an m5??, it's there a way to know looking at some numbers in the pcm??, how hard is to swap pcm's, i've been told it's only get 2 bolts out, unplug and plug a couple of conectors and get the bolts back again, it's this true??
    i need help Please :(

    The PCM's are the same for M5 and A4. They are just programmed differently....the part number is correct though.

      Without reprogramming it, it won't work.

        hpp3 can do that or i do need to go the stealer??
        right now i'm using the stock pcm, i just wanted the '00 one because i wanted to be able to use the hpp3 and reprogramed the gears (mine was 3.08 a month ago), transmission shift point and all of that. i guess i'm gonna have to wait unitl i get the money to get the hpp3 though. in the meantime i'll keep the '00 pcm on a safe place.

          Not even sure if the dealer could do it. Needs to be completely reprogrammed. Not really worth buying it.

            This is what i have done. I got a 00' Firebird automatic pcm with the stock y87 option. Then I just took off the gray wire hiders on the computer. Then there is two little bolts on top of the computer and loosen them now pull the connectors off then unscrew the mounting bracket for the computer take it out and reverse the process for your 00' pcm good luck mine works fine im waiting on a hypertech to tuner her up later man!

              ok just in case i just returned this pcm cause i didn't know if it was a4 or m5. i paid $108,25 for this so i guess i didn't screw this up [img]smile.gif[/img]
              this time i'm going to make sure it's coming from an a4 2000 camaro V6. then i'll follow your installation procedure (thanks dukeduster) and finally i'll get the hpp3.
