I know that topic is huge, but the proper rocker bolt tightening is discussed in it.

I've installed my rockers 3 times, with the cam, and pulling/swapping motors. Each time I used the 11ft lbs plus 90 deg method. I did not turn the motor over several times. Just made sure the rocker was not compressing the spring and opening the valve when tightening. So you may have to tighten half and then turn it 180 degrees.

I run the car hard when it's driven and have never had a problem with a rocker arm being loose or any valvetrain problem at all.

OK!! all done!
The install took about 3 hours.. with too people.. and we were taking our sweet time..

Anyway we just torqued them down to 11 ft/lbs.. and then added 90 degs.. everything seems to be fine..

car ran a little funny at first.. so we let it idle a while.. took it to lunch.. and then on our way back everything seemed Great!

I feals a little stronger.. so in 2 weeks i will have the dyno results for everyone.. I think the computer may need to make a few more adjustments though..

Later,

The car really shouldn't run funny at all and doesn't need major PCM learning, the PCM is rather quick when it comes to learning and adjusting.

When you tighten down rocker arms, be SURE you torque them down when the valve is fully closed.

Then rotate the engine around a few times so the valve opens and closes.. and torque them again!! THEN add the 90.

I do this in steps. ALL rocker arms at the 11 ft/lbs... then rotate the engien and do it again.. Every time I torque a rocker arm down I have to turn the crank a little to make sur ethe valve is closed.

its allight.. It was making a verry verry light tapping sound and took a while to start the first time.. But after we let it idle a while.. and then restarted it it was ok.. not a real big deal.. sorry to get you excited..

Hey everyone..

So first I want to say sorry for not having all this done on schedual.. basicly.. Jason heffner Owner of heffners performance has just been to dam busy to do my dyno run.. I think he lost an employee.. and I only think he had one.. so.. its all on him now..

and with a garage full of like 5 vipers (including a 2003 viper, and other exotics) he has little time for v6 camaro dyno runs.. or calling people back it seems..

SO,
I emailed him today. Calling him just wasent working out.. and he hasent been picking up the phone latly anyway..

Hopefully he will email me back tommarow and let me know what the deal is..

I am pretty irritated by this whole thing..
Hopefully it will all work out soon

anyway sorry everyone
~Bill

Well, Like a true jack*** jason hefner never emailed me back.. so, f-him...

I am going back to the first place "altered atmospere" to get the second dyno done..

I have not beed to thrilled about them.. but atleast they will let me do my dyno run.. so i can get the info out to everyone.. (I am sick if waiting)..

basicly Since I dident get a good rpm reading at altered atmosphere (in the base run) I will need to photoshop the RPM readings into the graph so It will look right. so they wont be completely accurate.. They will be pretty good though..

Sorry for the wait everyone.. I will be sure to try and get this all finished next week..

~Billy

Anyone know of a place in MARYLAND that acctualy provides Good dyno services? This has been a real PITA..

Allight!
9 rwhp!
Not as good as I expected but! it was warmer (20 degrees) and dryer today then it was the first day i went.. so.. i think it probably got me over 10 rwhp..

I am pretty sure its more like 12-13 rwhp in the real world.. not the F-ed up altered atmosphere dyno world.. so.. not to bad! cheeper then slp and just as good gains.. I give the zzp kit my seal of approval..

not to shabby.. Unfortunatly they were not able to get the Friggin' torque reading w/o a good rmp signal.. torque gain had to be somewhere between 10-15..

I plan on getting this dyno tested again later (at a legit dyno).. but I dont know when.. I will get the graphs up some time this week I hope..

I am right around the 200 rwhp mark now.. and pretty happy with it..

next task coil over suspension, bilstine hd's, and Yokahoma ES100's.. some of its here.. the rest is on the way!

later,
~Bill

Also Jason you can delete the page you were hosting for me.. the ftp server is up now (after 2 months).. Thanks! I am sure i say that for everyone.
