• 6 hours into cam swap...

so far i have...
-drained radiator, fuel lines, removed, fuel rails and injectors, ICU, spark plug wires, egr valve, throttle body and both upper and lower intake manifolds, both valve covers, rocker arms and pushrods, and the crank pulley. it wasnt really all that hard, just alot of bolts and wires and ****. Tommarrow ill get to work on it for about 4 or 5 more hours, in which time i hope to get the front cover and pull the old cam, install the new one, and hopefully get the valve springs replaced, but i guess we'll see. So far everything is going pretty smooth except that i broke the mounting bracket for the ICU when i was pulling the lower intake off, and i need a new gasket for the upper intake cuz zzp didnt send me one in their kit. Anyone have that bracket that the ICU bolts up to? or know where i can get one now and cheep? hopefully ill have good luck tomarrow.

Thats the worst.. I would attack the bottom bolt from underneath the car, and you have to flip the wrench every time.. you turn it a mm, then flip, turn a mm, then flip.. FUN STUFF!!!

those two bolts on the back on the passengers side, were the hardest to remove so far. both my arms are cut up like i got in a fight with a cat, and got my *** kicked. I just called around trying to find the ignition coil mounting bracket that i broke,(i kinda broke it off while pulling the upper intake off, woops) and its going to cost me $32 to have the thing here by monday at the earliest! I also have to buy a new gasket for the upper intake ($22). The worst part is that i cant finish putting it back together this weekend, cuz im going to have to wait on that bracket. Today im going to try to get the cam swaped out and do the valve springs.

as far as specs on the cam-
216°/216° at .050"
Intake Lift .317" (.507" lift at 1.6:1 rocker ratio)
Exhaust Lift .317" (.507" lift at 1.6:1 rocker ratio)
111 Lobe Separation
This cam was designed for naturally aspirated applications where maximizing the performance of stock heads is important. It will set the P0300 code unless programmed out of the PCM. Idle is lumpy, especially with headers. Raised shift points (6500), raised rev limiter (7k), and gears/converter are all recommended.

Look for gains of 25-35 HP depending on your car's current configuration.

I also bought some 105# valve springs and some new roller lifters from comp cams.

I'll try to get some pics tonight and post em up her later tonight or tommarow!

I'd like to thank V6MAN for helping out today. We got alot done today. Pulled old cam, put new one in, replaced all the valve springs, retainers, and keepers. Got the timing chain and sprocket, lefters and pushrods. Basically all i have left is to put the front engine cover back on, upper and lower intake manifolds, cooling fans, and rehook up all the electrical **** i unpluged. oh and i took some new pics today too, check em out-
