I'm thinking about either buying a 2001+ engine and transmission if I can find one cheap enough over the summer, or rebuilding my entire valvetrain on my current 97 engine, as in doing all of the following things:
Comp Cams Valvespring Retainers
Crower Chromemoly Retainers
GM Factory Replacement Valve Locks
SLP Aluminum Roller Rockers and Pushrods
Comp Cams High Energy Lifters
GM Factory Replacement Fuel Injectors
Total comes to around the price of a new engine installed, but two things I'm debating. One is that I know this setup will be a whole lot stronger and better than a newer stock setup. However, I don't know if it would be better to do this and keep the stock internals or buy a newer engine with less miles on the internals and a weaker stock valvetrain. Any advice as to whether or not I should get a new engine or rebuild the topend and lifters and fuel delivery of the one I have now? (I have 95000 miles on it and race it from time to time)
