  • 5 angle vavle job??

what kind of gains can i expect to see from a 5 angle vavle job? Theres a shop in town that says they can do one, but i'm not sure that its going to be worth it? If anyone has done this or know what the benifits are, let me know!

ive seen the custom 5 angle valve job my dad does increase the flow on a set of BBC's 10-12 cfm...do i think its worth pulling the heads off, no unless your getting them ported too...

I was at the machine shop today, and the machinist told me all about cylinder heads. Our 3800 v6 has a very nice 3 angle valve job from the factory. There isn't a need to rework the valves in that respect unless you are building a 9 second 3800. He also said he was very impressed with the quality of our ports. Our heads flow just fine for the application that most of us use them for. THe only way we could benefit from headwork was if we were spinning the engine to 8000 rpm.

I trust this machinist because he builds alcohol injected small blocks for sprint cars. He knows his stuff. His engines are in the world of outlaws race all the time.

I have also heard that our heads flow very well for stock. But all you guys are forgetting ported heads have less KR because the exhaust flows much better. I ran a 218/218 113lsa cam with ported heads and 0 KR all the time. I think its because of the heads better exhaust flow. Correct me if im wrong?

the 3 angle valve job actually is nice for a stock one, but it still lacks in the flow department, and to clear things up, our heads flow like *** stock, mine flowed 188.9 CFM at .600 lift, thats NOT good...and as far as only benefiting from the portwork if we were spinning 8000 RPM is not true, a motor w/a ported head vs. a stock head will almost always make more power and be more efficient...the ports look real nice just by sight because all the walls are straight and flat but dont let looks decieve you, they dont flow...but you can stick w/your stock heads, ill put the ported ones on mine and let ya'll see some dyno numbers! later
