Well, it is no surprise I have bought them.
I stopped by SLP headquarters and met the owner of that v6, spoke with the head tech's and so on and I was intreaged.
I have 83,000 miles on this engine.
I drag race it quite often.
The SLP rockers will be used with the stock cam
I could just put the SLP roler rockers straight on and reuse the old ones but that doesn't make sense due to 80,000+ miles of wear and tear. Also the potential stress just on them already just doesn't make sense to go that route.
Or, I could just buy stock brand new ones and use them. Brand new is better but it is stock.
Stiffer aftermarket ones?
Why am I bringing this up? I was at an f body gathering last night and I was speaking to the service manager of Jay Fischer Pontiac. He has an 11-10 second maro. He is also an ex writer for GMHTP.
His suggestion was to upgrade these also.
He guessed at maybe the LT1 hotcam upgrade spring used with that cam but he did not know if that would work with a v6.
I know we have these parts (zzperformance, I think) available to us.
I do not know about these things and I think this mod will become a more popular one. There were 6 people in the GP on these.
Any advice, suggestions or comments are needed and welcomed!
I think this is worthy of advanced tech
Update: I contacted SLP and spoke with one of their tech's (Joey). They had no suggestion for a non stock spring. They have not tested beyond that. They have made this a true bolt on kit only
