pcm a4 or m5

i was thinking of getting a 00 pcm i just called hypertech and talked to someone who works there and he said if it is a4 or m5 it will work i just wonder because some guys in the forum said it will not work i have a 99 bird and if it does work when i order it should i get a 00 pcm or y87 or they the same any info will help

pcm a4 m5 my goals are i would like to get gears and a power pac from ssix i have talked to tom a couple of times am just worried that my car will run like nino in all i would like to get to about 250 HP would like more but dont want nitro maybe someday get a super charger

your posts dont make much sense... but i think one of your questions is if your car will work with a 00 PCM and the answer to that is yes. will HPP3 work on that? in theory it should. i have my 99 programmed with an 00 vin but have not tired an HPP3.

what other options are there? if your car is an A4 then you will need an A4 programmed PCM

what gears do you have?
if you have 3.42s and an A4 then you will want one programmed for that like the Y87 PCM is.

how did you get your 99 reprogammed to 2000 i might just do that i dont have gears yet i want to get 373 thats why i want tho HHPIII

i know a guy at a local pontiac dealership... gave him the 00 vin from kris' (slacker69) car and he did his thing.

if you are gonna go with 3.73s then it doesnt matter what the PCM is programmed for, as long as it is from an 00-02, because you will have to reprogram it with the HPP3 for the 3.73s anyways.

well i guess i will just get the 00 pcm i just wanted to make sure it will work with my a4 the place iam getting it from said that it doesnt matter if the pcm was from a a4 or m5 as long as i get a HHP3 and reprogram it it will work part# of 00 pcm 9380717
