  • LS1 swap @ $15k!!

All the local shops are scared to death of the l36 to ls1 swap. Many say they won't attempt it,alot say that they would do it for about 15k worry free, and others say maybe 10k if I supply the engine. If I pulled one of those 3k engine/tranny combos off of ebay how much would the other stuff cost? Then I'll go from there. I know this has been discussed but it does good to add to the search database.

For 15k you might as well buy a low milage Z28 or TA.

That's what the shops are telling me but my car is just too original and I'd hate to lose it. But if it was only like 6k I wouldn't think twice about doing it.

I agree that I wouldn't want to trade my car in either if I had put that much work into it.
Keep looking around...I'm SURE you can find someone to do it for less than 15K...thats ridiculous.

ya... 15K is sky high man, i'd look somewhere else. my mech said that he'd do the work for 2, provided that i have the motor, tranny and all the lil nick nacks to go along with it.

              15K is stupid expensive.

you should be able to do it for $2000 plus parts from a good shop.

the shops around here would do it for $1200, but, you prolly will need the V8 suspension, fuel pump, radiator, rear end gears (if the v8 you get comes with an auto trans because if the gears dont match the computer will get confused) ect..

i agree with Die Ford... Tiago's kit would be my choice. Much more original also, well kind of.
