yes i polished everything inside the head itself, and ported as much as i could w/ just a dremel.

Thats gonna kill your compression ratio....I can see all the metal you took away around the valve seats.

            Not bad at all.
You don't realy have to go that shiny unless you are going high boost forced induction, high compression 10:1 or more or nitrous.

porting valve seats is a no no your supposed to get a valve job done (3 angle, 5 angle)

there is no way if you ported the valve seats that the valves are going to close all the way and evenly

here is a quote from standard abrasives do it your self porting guide
You want to put the near-mirror finish on the combustion chamber walls for two reasons: 1) As a deterrent to carbon build-up; and 2) to eliminate any sharp edges that can cause pre-ignition. The first thing to do is clean up the stems of your junk valves (Cross Buff TM or one of the surface conditioning discs will work well) then install the valves into the chamber you will be working on. They will protect those all-important valve seats as you polish the surrounding chamber surfaces.
it tells you not to polish or grind the vlave seats go see the guide for your self here
              http://www.sa-motorsports.com/diyport.htm

also our valve seats are hardend, if you took too much material away, your valves can recess them selves

heres a link to the recess problem from intense (you might not have a problem with this but I just want to make sure you know about it)

also here is a page with cross section cuts showing everything they say up above is right

i finished everything down w/ a 120 grit flapwheel. that made everthing pretty smooth. my intake manifold (upper and lower) were as rough on the inside as the were on the outside. I could see where the back two inlets on my manifolds were getting less air flow and were much darker from build up. I'm going to finish tightening down all the header bolts today and do an oil change. I'll try to get a video or sound clip.

Looks good, I'm assuming you used the SA kit.

I P&P my heads as well and I had really good results.

i didnt actually port the valve seats, i just used a 120 grit flapwheel to remove the layer of carbon build up on the actual valve seats. I ported everything above the seats. and thanks for the info drone!

I think you might have made a mistake.... It is hard to tell with the pics though. I hope you didn't take any material off the vavle seats.... They look as if they were sanded down just a bit too. If so that is not good. Other than that looks nice and shiny..good job.

When i ported my heads I left the old vavles in ...i did this even though the shop was installing new seats... better safe than sorry.
