  • How do I calculate compression ratio?

I have diamond pistons, which would have given me 9.5:1 compression ratio with a totaly stock engine. THey have a 3.6cc dish.

The head gasket is .067" thick, and the heads are milled .030" They were 64cc before they were milled.

Can anyone tell me my compression ratio? The machine shop said I will have around 11.0:1, but I think that is way too high.

Does it run on 91 Octane? If it's 11.0 to 1 it won't run on pump gas, not with those cast iron heads. I'd think probably somewhere around 10.2-3 to 1 at the highest, depending on how much porting and polishing they did.

Heads are totally stock. I will run 91 octane.

I think 10.2 is more realistic that 11.0

I wish I could find some kind of online compression calculator.

Go to Ross's website (as in Ross racing pistons). At the top of the page, there is a link to "Calculators". That one works pretty well.

          Let my pose another question:

How do I figure out my cylinder head compression chamber volume if I milled the heads .030"?
