I've been wondering that myself. About the only thing I've heard is that it will save you money on installation costs and increase the effects of the cam if you upgrade the valvetrain at the same time.

Upgrade intake and exhaust. Drivetrain and suspension. Then go for the cam and valvetrain.

Are you A4 or M5? are you going to use N2O, FI or go N/A? If you are an A4 you want a good torque converter with a higher stall, and a shift kit. If an M5 you want a good aftermarket clutch.

Yes a verter with a shift kit. Do both at the same time.

dont forget tranny cooler if upgrading to a higher stall. I have heard good things about Precision Industries converters.
