correct me if im wrong.. but how does putting exhaust gasses back into the intake, DECREASE intake temps?
right now i have it somewhat ghetto rigged. i took some vacuum tubing.. (big tube) and routed it to my intake ducting. that way, at idle, its sucking in cool, filtered air, instead of hot smelly exhaust gasses.

EGR lowers the combustion chamber temps because exhaust gas is basically a place holder. It has already been burnt so it will not burn again to raise temperatures inside the combustion chamber.
I wouldn't worry about EGR heating the intake manifold, the cylinder heads do that a lot more than the EGR.
EGR is a trick that allows engine builders to get better mileage while cruising. without it the engine will draw in more useful air (and thus need more fuel) and mileage suffers slighty. it isn't a huge difference for a consumer, but it makes a huge deal with EPA testing.

Cars with large cams dont need egr because they have more valve overlap which already puts burnt air into the combustion chamber.

So my truck is finally getting some work done, after 17 years, Oil pressure sensor went out and it’s located under the lower intake manifold. Have to...
