I've done a search on this so don't blast me yet, because no one has asked what i'm about to ask. Is there software that will allow us to reprogram our PCM on the fly. The PCM adjusts itself while we are driving to try and obtain the best balance for all parameters it controls, so theoretically this IS possible. If it doesn't exist would anyone be interested in helping me write a program that does do this....you could plug a laptop in and use predefined settings to "switch" your car into whatever mode you want to. city, highway, track, autocross....this would be an invaluable piece of software to all f-body owners...i'm anetwork engineer and have a strong programming background....if anyone wants to take this on let me know...

PCM Software for 3.4L

This is possible, yet no one has done anything for it. I have talked with several people about it... it's all about the "market" for the 3.4.... They seem to think that the market is not there for it.

I understand completely the reason it would be difficult to find considering the "market" is mostly geared towards the LS1 and LT1 anyway. But I would be willing to put the time and effort in to design such a product (i don't really care about its aftermarket retail implications) just for my own personal benefit. The reason i am talking about this is becasue i am building a computer system for my car to control and tie in everything that is computerized in the car...or a central console with a small LCD Touch screen. Having GPS, Sat radio, MP3 cd player, engine controls, trip computer, and so on and so forth. I know it will be expensive and time consuming, but what a hell of a system to have in a car. plus there are operating systems out now that would be well suited to this type of application. Windows CE, XP or Linux would all be worth experimenting with. It would have to be a low-power consumption OS. Let me know if you want to tackle this. also if you have info that will aid me in my quest that would also be appreciated. I know a couple of things, one it runs on a motorola 32 bit chip and uses embedded C. embedded C? where did you get that from?
If PCM runs on a 68332 then its Motorola CPU32 Assembly with TPU instructions.Keith - Chicago
HP Tuners - PCM Reprogramming
97 Firebird V6 to LS1 swap
V8 9.967@132.78 1.322 60\' NA Heads/Cam
V8 10.295@128.48 1.363 60\' NA Cam Only
V8 10.987@119.31 1.422 60\' NA Stock Internals
V6 13.674@98.22 NA
V6 12.394@104.91 N20 100HP

Hey Keith I can help out. And the fact that I have a 3.4 is good too :D I have a strong background in VB and C/C++ as well as some work in assembler (not a whole lot). But I could probably learn any other language w/in a couple hours. Let me know what you wanna do bud, Chris.---
-\'95 3.4L M5 Camaro

Did a search in Camaroz28.com and came up with a couple of hits in the advanced tech about PCM's and embedded C. Don't know if it's 100% accurate but at this point i'm just collecting data about the PCM to start a project plan. Any specs you can offer magnus?1993 Camaro 3.4L A4 many mods comin for 2004

\"The last thing I wanted was to get in a fight in Jackson, Mississippi on a Saturday night\"

Hey guys check this page out, they have development hardware and software for the Motorola 68332 Chipset including compilers and boards. might be worth a look...plus you might be able to build a support group of programmers that work with this hardware
see

this is assuming we know for a fact the 3.4L uses a motorola 68332 Chipset...anyone have a source that confirms this?1993 Camaro 3.4L A4 many mods comin for 2004

\"The last thing I wanted was to get in a fight in Jackson, Mississippi on a Saturday night\"

If I could program worth a d*mn I would help out. I've got a 3.4L and I'm only a couple of hours up the road from you. In fact myself and some friends are coming to Jackson for a gun show this weekend.
I pretty good with computer hardware I just can't program.

When isn't there a gunshow in jackson? LOL...anyway...even if you can't program, a good part of this project will be hardware based as well. If i can't get the current camaro computer to do what i want, i may just design a new one. hmmmmmm....there's a thought. Any electrical engineers in here.1993 Camaro 3.4L A4 many mods comin for 2004

\"The last thing I wanted was to get in a fight in Jackson, Mississippi on a Saturday night\"

Hehe, you're right. This is the REALLY BIG gun show though. :D
I'm pretty decent with electronic hardware. If I don't know how it works I can usually figure it out.
I'm not a EE, I'm on my way to being an aerospace engineer. My roomate is in the EE program though.
