well like most of my questions about throwing codes I am wondering exactly how the computer knows that there is an egr problem IF YOU:
put a block off plate between the hose from the egr and the intake?? the computer obviously knows if the egr is opening and closing but how does it really know if the exhaust gas is going into the intake??

There is either a sensor or the ecm runs some kinda test comaparing sensors.
If you simply block off the egr, like me. You could end up getting a P0401 SES code.
P0401 - Exhaust Gas Recirculation (EGR) Flow Insufficient
<EDIT> Note my car is a 99 that may make a difference.

interesting.... I'm guessing that might have something to do that the computer realizes the egr is open and the other sensors aren't getting the required results so it deduces that something is wrong with egr flow
anyone with a 98 made an egr blockoff plate..
btw.. main reason I am asking is because I want to try the egr block off mod to see if my egr is sticking and causing my wierd idle under deceleration (closed throttle) don't have autotap because I am poor.. :( so my diagnosis is kinda limited.. so I want to block it off but don't want THAT to throw a code..

Haven’t done anything on the Camaro, but put LEDs on my truck headlights . And my oil pressure sensor went out on the truck so going to fix that this...
