  • Can a 3.8 become a stroker motor

Ok just curious but can a 3.8 be stroked. I have a 383 in my K5 that I built myself but Ive never heard of it in the 3.8 I guess you could but does anyone have #'s or info on this. I know when I stroked my 350 it gave me grrrrreat gains, like 100+ HP and 130+ on the torque and it was rather cheap too. Any info would be great...

a couple of grand. don't have the info on hand. do a search. there were some major threads on this a couple of months ago.

one of the cranks is re tooled stock and on the weak side. another is from australia as is new and supposedly stronger.

It changes the stroke of the piston, making it go up and down further which increases displacement. ;)

To put it as simple as possible, A stroker motor is an engine that utilizes a different crank to achieve more displacement with the same engine block. An engine fitted with an altered crankshaft that has a larger stroke increases the engine's size without increasing the size of the block. I took my chevy 350 and put a externally balanced 400 crank, had it bored .030 had the bottom of the deck clearenced so the crank would not hit it and put all new internal parts pistons, rods etc... The machine work is expensive but I got a great deal cause Im in the military and we have a machine shop on base that cuts us grrrreat deals. My total engine price was 2000 and that was machine work, engine kit and misc items. Hope this helps

i would like to do this. but the fact i have nitrous it may not do well. the largest shot is 50. umm towards the bottom of the page they mentioned they may do a application for nitrous/boost. Nachius thanks for the info i wouldn't think they would make kit for a 3.8
