engine swap

My v6 engine was overheated and the mechanic told me it would be better to just get another engine. how much would another 3.8l 3800 ser.II cost? Or should I go for the V8? '98 camaro

It is going to be double that for the LS1 swap, and a little less then double for an LT1.
