    3.4 -> LT1 Swap

    What all will I need?

    I got the automatic tranny (4L60E) and I hear that will bolt up without any problems, I know I need a K-Member, the motor (duh), wiring harness, gauges, and thats all I know I need. What about rear end? Anything need changed back there?

    Anyone got a complete list?

        OK - what I really want to know is will my 4L60E tranny mount up to that LT1 and will my suspension have to be changed out for the weight of the motor?

          your tranny will not work, and your suspension should be changed just on the pricipal that it is old and weak anyway.
          6s.......under the hood or under the belt, they just dont cut it.

            I keep hearing my automatic tranny is the same one used in the Z28s...???? Why would it not mount up?

              The transmission is the same, but the bellhousing is diffrent between the V6 and V8.
              White 1998 Firebird M5, Suncoast WS6 hood, Chrome 18\" C5\'s, beaver tail wing, 2 15\" Kicker Comp VR\'s, ect.

                the newer model trannys have removable bellhousings. but i am not certain what year they went to those.
