  • 3 month Review: My cam

As far as I know, I am the only one with this cam. I wanted to be different, and decided i would guinea pig this one for any others who want to go N2o without sacraficing driveability.

Anyways, cam is 210/220 .512/.512 w/115LSA. Listed in the compcams catalog as a blower cam. I called comp before i bought it and they said it will be great as a Nitrous cam too... Install was easy, did it in 12 hours from closing the garage door to start up. LS1/LS6 springs are a must.

Idle: its lopes hard when its cold or just starts up, but settles down after a bit. Does set the SES light, but the light doesnt flash, The SES light only comes on if you let it idle for like 10 minutes, like stop and go traffic, but I have ran the car at the dyno, and at the track with the code and saw not loss or gain from it.

Power: cam feels good from idle on to red line but really pulls harder the higher the RPM. Dyno graphs are flat... made 155 HP at 3300 and 212.7 at 5400, cam makes power to about 6200. Speed limiter prevents anything more than 5400 (3rd gear pull in A4 will hit 118 MPH) , but the curve is still climbing when it hits the limiter. I know 220 is very possible with nothing more than changing rev limiter and removing speed limiter.

Track/Dyno. before the cam, my best 1/4 mile was 14.90@ 90 MPH w/ 2.0 60'. new best is a 14.61 @ 92 w/ 2.17 60'. spins a bit. Also with the cam pulling so hard in the upper RPMS, shift points need to be raises and so will the rev limiter. Each shift hesitates, I know I am losing at least .2 just in the shifts. but for an untuned car, using stock PCM tuning, I am pleased.
On the nitrous, a 75 shot I went 13.58 @102 with a 2.0 60'. Nitrous is real responsive with this cam having the wide lobe separation and lift/duration. Cant wait to geta full 100 shot on it..

Overall: I think i made a good choice with my selection. I might not be the fastest cammed car, but I know theres potential for faster times and more power. What would I do to help it out? Tuning! Tuning! Tuning! A/f is good but the shift points and rev limiter must be raised! Also i think a set of heads would do nice with this cam having a higher than .500 lift. and a Stall converter, 3000 or higher.. I will get a 3000 soon.

Any questions you have just reply or IM me at c25 Crew on AIM.
