• Would you like to help moderate the Advanced Tech Section?

Due to my new responsibilities with HP Tuners, I am no longer able to put in the amount of hours moderating this forum as I once was.

If you would like to moderate this forum, please post a little bit of info regarding your self and your skills in this thread. Sell yourself to us.

We are looking for someone who has in-depth engine experience. This means you should have swapped a cam before, done valve springs, etc. etc. You need to know how the internals of the 3.8 function.

We are looking for mature experienced members who can represent themselves in a professional manner and help those who require it without bashing those that seem a little off-pace with the rest of us.

If you are not interested in moderating this section, please do not post in this thread.

Thanks!

I know that you said that if you are not intereted in moderating in this thread, you should not post, but shouldn't the above quote include the 3.4L V6 engine also? Just curious.

Agreed, I may drive a 3.4, but I've done more mechanical work than 99% of the population. As for cam swaps and whatnot, that's childsplay. I don't consider "mods" to be things you can do in under an hour, that's what I call maintenance.

I am not counting out the 3.4 owners, however I would like to see someone with 3.8 engine experience get the position as most of the topics are regarding the 3.8.

Hey I do every thing V6-60*.
I have the top half of a 2.8L/3.4L over here with me. I have built and broke lots of stuff on my camaros. From the engine to the drive shaft.
I have read a lot of materal on the 3.8L camaros but never got to work with them much.
I have tons of 3.4 and 3.8 internal stuff on the hard drive of my computer and every week or so I look them up to help some one with a question here or other sites.
I have chiltons books (redneck ) and a very very indepth book on the TH700 and 4L60 transmission (hard core tech materal, like I see every day at my job).
I go to the hobby shop and help people get there cars ready for the races all most every friday afer work, I work with 3000gt's RX7's toyota this and that, EVO's, and more. I weld for people also (the racers mostly), exhaust piping most of the time.
I machine my valve spring seats and valve guides on my heads I pick out all my valve traine and rotating assy. parts, I never buy kits.
I do my own porting and polishing.
With in the next 3yr I hope to have my own welding and maching shop, all ready have a mig and 8500w plasma cutter, drill press and porting every thing, but no real maching machines yet.
I had been working on a sechmatic for my 3 stage nitrous system for my Z28, but it's done now, Next up is to start buying and soldering parts.
I have a job unlike any one here I bet. I could be tareing down an AiResearch gas turbine compressor, working on a broke diesel driven hydraluic system, fixing a big trailer mounted A/C or working on a 400Hz generator and more.
I don't bash or call any one dumb because we all start out knowing equaly nothing about camaros or every thing for that matter.
I post at camaroz28.com, gmvsford.com, newbeetle.org mostly in the 1.8T section and fbody.com but they redid there site and I can't login there :( .
All as "oil pan 4".

I would love to help moderate this forum. I have been around the boards for a while. I even have some advanced tech experience with my old 3.8. And now more experience with my engine swap. I have swapped heads and cam in the 3.8. More then once. I swapped a total of 2 cams. I even P&P my own intake manifolds. Im in the process of also rebuilding my 3.8. With the v8 swap I have also learned alot about wiring stuff. Im also on the board all the time. Let me know if i can help.

Hrmm well I'll try not to sound too full of myself here (fat chance ROFL).

I created (along with a salesman and the marketing director) the entire 3800 Series II cam/valvetrain program from concept to execution with Comp Cams.
I designed what has been called the best selling/performing Supercharged Series II camshaft.
I put the first fwd 3800 series II into the 12's (and the second into the 13's)
I helped develop the MSD ignition adapter plates for the GM DIS systems.
I was part of the team that built several firebirds with full blown L67's in them (yes with an M90 no less!)
I was involved with several GM prototype systems such as L67 aluminum cylinder heads and blocks.
I've built and tuned quite a few 3800's, most producing over 400 horsepower on pump gas.
I'm responsible for the technical editorial content of quite a few magazines, a couple of which I deal specifically with tuning 3800's.
And last but not least, I love Camaro/FirebirdV6 w00t!

This is the condensed list, I don't think you need 3 pages ROFL.

LOL no need for the bowing (I'm just a car guy not royalty) hehe. I'm around here pretty much everyday, I just don't post unless I have something semi-constructive to add! I'm glad to help wherever I can, I'm a sucker for 3.8L's in general :D

Magnus,
I would like to be considered.
My only hobby is my car! I have done a cam swap, I have pulled the heads, changed springs, rockers, pushrods, lifters, etc.
I know ALL about cam bearings!
I definately know how the internals function!
I am pretty good with poeple and rarely have trouble with anyone.
I would LOVE to moderate the best forum on the best message board for the v6 fbody!
Thanks.

Looks like there are a wealth of good candidates. I would vote for Chris, with his experience with the 3800 series II engine, he probably has forgotten more than most of us know about that engine.
