  • no oil pressure?

Today I was driving home from my grandparents house and as I was braking, my check gauges light came on and I looked down, only to see that I had no oil pressure. I turned the car off, and popped the hood, everything looked okay, so I started it back up, and the oil pressure was all back, WTF happened? anyone ever have this happen before?

You sure it didn't die on you while you were driving -- i.e. stall out?

I'd say with an 02 you're under warranty.

The only time I see that is when an old 2.8 or 3.4 is about to die.
The hot oil and it sloshing to the frount, droping oil pressure from engine rpms slowing fast, cause it to drop fast.
I would take it in to the shop.
The pick up could have fallen out of its hole, seen that before.
You could have a dirty filter and stuck close bypass maybe.

I know it didnt die, it had done it before on the dragstrip when I was slowing down, if it ever does it again, Ill just take it back to the dealer, but I dont think its a serious problem, probably the pick up

The pickup falling off is as serious as it can get. That doesn't just dix itself. If it falls off, that's it. No oil pressure until the pickup is reattached. But on the other hand, I had a problem w/ my oil pressure like new2thegame, I had a bad wire to the sensor.

mine has done that twice in the last 2 or 3 years, dont know what it is....once when i was racing a guy and i was running about 75-90, and the other time when i was slowing down after a pass at the track...i just did the same as you, get scared as hell, then fire it back up and the oil pressure came back...

Been there done that, it was my oil sending unit. I've heard a lot of people who have had this problem. All of them that I know, including myself, just had a bad oil sending unit. It's cheap and easy to replace.

Yes I would check the oil sending unit for good connections... when you crawl under the car It is kinda out there in the open for anything to mess it up.

No oil is very scary... I would be comfortable till i find out wxactlywhat it was and had it fixed.
