  • KR Question

Well I autotaped my car yesterday and I have about 4.1* of KR at WOT in 3rd gear. From what I read about false KR, it normally starts high, then goes down, and real KR starts low and goes high.

I was studying my atap log and it started at 1.6* right about 5500RPM in second gear, then I shifted into 3rd and it jumped to 3.9* then to 4.1* then started going down again. I only took it to about 70MPH before I had to slow down. Do you guys think I have a real KR problem? I did a few runs, and the results were similar.

If this is false KR, is there a way to get rid of it. I know I'm not loosing much power, but power loss is never good, and knock just isn't good for the engine either.

BTW I just started running 93 octane again about 2 tanks ago.

If it is real knock, higher octane should make it go away. Otherwise, it is likely to be false.

With your mods I would say it is false knock.

That's what I was thinking. What can I do to get rid of it? I've heard puting resistors on, but what kind and where?

I have no idea what "resistor" thing you are talking about...sorry.

As for fixing it, you will need to find the problem first. I would stay start with the exhaust and make sure nothing under the car is making contact with the body or frame.

John's right - always try to isolate the source of the false knock instead of desensitizing the sensor. Much safer for the engine.

Put some high octane race gas in her first....then autotap...if no KR, it was real knock.

does KR feel like a missfire?

cause i just replaced my plugs and wires. i used ngk tr55's gapped .060, and taylor spiro pro wires, and it still feels like im mis fireing. so its either bad coil pack, or KR.

it feels like a miss from 1k to 3k, then when it hits about 3.5k rpms it runs smooth again all that way to 6k.

is that a misfire or knock retard. its its KR, how do i get rid of that?
