  • Cam shift points

My car blew a headgasket, so both of them are getting replaced now. I figured while my friend's dad had the motor apart, why not throw in a cam.

Here is what I bought from ZZP:

    ZZP GT 2 Cam
    The stock size Comp pushrods
    Comp valve locks
    Comp Titanium valve spring retainers
    LS6 Valve springs
    New timing chain
    new timing chain dampner
    new cam bolt

My question is, when I get the car tuned how high should I set the WOT shift points and rev limiter? ZZP says 6500rpm WOT and 7k revlimiter, but I'm scared to do that on my block. The lower half will have 120,000 on it still (crank, pistons, block). ZZP also says 6200rpm with stock springs for WOT shifts, but I will have the LS6 springs.

Still ok to rev it that high? If I can safely, I would love that. I love high revving motors.

With a stock bottom end I wouldn't want to let it wing up to 7k. Maybe set the rev limiter at 6700 or 6800 and set shift points at 6300 or 6400.

Anyone else have a better idea of what these things can handle?

Sounds like another dyno day will be in order soon.

What are you using for tuning?

Going to try and contact Anti-Venom off Parsons and MLK Blvd. I'll see what he says and buy the hptuners add on for his suite.

No one knows? I'm just going to go with the ZZP recommendations then because my block is in great shape.
