I just recently bought new head bolts. Tourqued them down, started the car, head leaked water. Turned car off pulled heads. Do I need to buy new head bolts or will these be ok to reuse?

The safe answer would be no. If you are using the factory size 10mm head bolts, my answer would still be no. However if you've installed say a 13-15mm head bolt following the ssm swap, i'd say yes. But check each bolt with a micrometer to make sure that no stretching has occured.98 NOS\'d Camaro 3.8 A4
99 Hyundai Elantra 2.0 A4

Contact ARP to have some head studs made...that way, you won't have to replace the head bolts again.- Josh
If you have any questions or need installation pics/help, e-mail me: Viper98885@aol.com
\'93 Camaro Hardtop
\'01 Lincoln LS8 Sport
\'00 Yamaha YZF-R6
Full Throttle Performance

I thought about that, but wouldn't that make it pretty tuff to get the heads on/off with the engine still inside the car?
Yes, you need new bolts. They have been stretched and can't be properly torqued to spec.

I had no problems whatsoever with my head studs. If anything, it makes it easier because you get your bolt holes lined up and the head will slide right down. From there, torque the nuts and you're set.- Josh
If you have any questions or need installation pics/help, e-mail me: Viper98885@aol.com
\'93 Camaro Hardtop
\'01 Lincoln LS8 Sport
\'00 Yamaha YZF-R6
Full Throttle Performance
