  • Comp Custom Grind, 206/212 115LS?

I called compcams today to order my cam. I am getting 206/212, 320/325, and they recommended a lobe seperation of 115.

I dont know any board member that runs a 115 LS. He said because its computer controlled and I would be running nitrous this will give best results.

I feel like board members know more about our engine then a compcams tech. So what do you guys think about the 115 LS?

I want something that will give the most power. What exactly does the LS do and what does it affect?

He said if I went with like a 112 LS it will run really rich or not at all. Is this true?

He also recommended the cam specs. Does this sound ok?

i dont think u will like this cam. It will be good for nitrous but na it will not be powerful at all. 112 lobe seperation will be rich but thats what the maft+ is for to lean out the engine. i would get a 113 lobe seperation i dont know if you have heard ironmans cam and seen his dyno it is mean na and esspecially with nitrous. I think i am going to get the same cam he is getting maybe i will get a 112 lobe seperation unstead of a 113 if i can figure out what the difference is and what it will do for me.

yea Ive heard ironman's cam and its awsome.

So is the LS why this cam will not perform? Or is it just the cam itself.

What if I got 112 ls would it make more power and be a good cam choice?

A lower LS means more valve overlap. The more overlap, the more idle lope, and the higher the powerband goes.

My idea of a perfect street cam is one that maximizes power across the band, not something that has a peaky power band with nothing under it, or a flat low powerband with no topend.

The 115LS will idle smoother and run better than a 112LS cam for daily driving, and you won't loose a whole lot of power running it (we're talking 10hp maximum in the topend... less below 5000RPM). Look at your stock cam, then look at this cam, you'll find all you're doing is opening the valves longer and with more lift and rate than with the stock cam - making it effectively breathe better. The LS is the same 115 though so it won't cause any PCM issues and will be very safe to run.

Lowering the LS is like increasing the duration of intake and exhaust... every 1degree LS change is something like 8degrees added duration.

Basically - I don't see a problem running a 115LS cam - the most you'll LOSE n/a vs a 112 spec'd cam would be 10hp... you'll make up for that with nitrous and it'll be a very easy cam on the PCM.
