• Between 2 cams.. Please advise...

Ok, i have been doing my research and looking at everything I can. I am looking at these two:

1)Comp Cams HL cam
206/216@ .050
Intake Lift: .315" (.504 w/ 1.6 ratio)
Exhaust Lift: .315" (.504 w/ 1.6 ratio)
115 Lobe Seperation

2)Comp Cam
206/212@ .050
Intake Lift: .320" (.512 w/ 1.6 ratio)
Exhaust Lift: .325" (.520 w/ 1.6 ratio)
113 Lobe seperation

I am looking to stay N/A for a bit, but plan to spray next season. The first says gains of 30-50 have been seen. And the second is from 20-40, I know these are not what to be looking for. PLease let me know what you al think of these two.

Thanks.

30-50 on a GTP..

FYI, you can order your cam directly through comp.. a 206/212 112 will perform nicely.. a 212/212 112 would perform even nicer.

How streetable are those cams you mentioned... I dont want to have to deal with a bunch of gremlins and stuff... Looking to be streetable. Not too worried about the lope of the cam... I am looking for a power cam, but I dont want anyone to know... little to no hard idle... What do you think?

little to no hard idle??? that doesn't go well with big power, especially on a V6.

perhaps a 206/206 114.. not sure how hard that will chop.. it will chop more than stock, but not like the 212/212 112 but also won't make near the power.

Will that be a good cam with Nitrous?? Would I want to favor the exaust?? How about 212/214?? What would the drivability- gasmiles be??

You have to pick what you want... a cam that actually makes you power you'll notice, or a cam that nobody knows you have.

206/206 115LS <-- will be VERY tame
206/206 112LS <-- very stretable, with chop, and make nice power
212/212 112 <-- streetable, more chop but not that bad, and make more power

216/216 112 <-- streetable, will chop hard, make lots of power

Since comp allows the custom grinds, what will happen if I take the 212/212 cam and make it a 113 or 114 LS, less chop on the idle, higher powerband? What is the powerband for that cam? I am looking for at least 200 RWHP from this mod, I have not dynoed my car, but plan to as soon as I pick a cam setup.

Also, what kind of Tuning will I need for the 212/212 setup? Also, I read on your site(magnus) that you had some knock retard issues, is that from the cam or somthing to do with Nitrous? thanks. I thought i knew alot about the cars, but when it comes to cams, Magnus, you seem to be the man.

Almost everyone on this board has KR issues when they get a cam installed. The thing people do to get rid of it is install resistors on the KR sensors.

With the 216/216 112ls what would be the best mods to complement this cam i.e. pushrods retainers springs. Stuff like that.

Also should rocker arms be replaced?

hey magnus,
im gonna buy a cam for the swap, and going by what you said im leanin towards the 206/206 112 or the 212/212 112.

now i am spraying but want n/a power too, and after my recent problem that your familiar with ;) i really, really, dont want more problems sneakin up on me, i drive the car alot, im gonna have springs/retainers/lifters and pushrods to go with it.

Magnus would the 212/212 112 grind along with 1.8 rocker arms be a good combo.

Do not change rocker arms with an aggressive cam. 1.6:1 is a perfectly good ratio.

would it be more benefical to have a different cam with a 1.8 rockers, i want a lot of power but cant afford the constant insurance drain.
