• Happy now, Keith?

This new forum is more or less Keith's baby... and no, the moderators selected are tentative (I believe) until I get a response from them.

I'm going to let Keith and the other mods here decide what goes into General and what goes into Advanced. The basic rule is that Advanced is to cut down on clutter. In this way you don't have to flip through pages upon pages of "which CAI is best" and "how much hp does such-and-such brand catback add" posts. Topics that belong in here are engine rebuilds, cams, heads, lifters, tranny specs, etc. etc. Topics for General are repair and maintenance issues, bolt-on mods, etc.

Basically, if a mod is listed under the bolt-on section of the Modifications Encyclopedia then it belongs in General. ;)

Also, every post in this forum will be archived, so we will be IRON FISTED about moderating. Expect 2-3 topics to be moved out/deleted/locked/whatever per day. The idea is if all of the in-depth technical discussions are saved then you can use the Search feature before needing to ask the same question all over again.

"And to cover today's topics, here is Keith and Robert..."

Thank you Stefan.

Topics that do not belong in Advanced Tech will be moved. There will be no locked copy to stay in the advanced tech section. The reason for this is that all topics in advanced tech are archived so there is no need for a off-topic post to be archived as well.

Also, the "Welcome to the Advanced Technical forum" post will remain toward the top. You may use this as a guideline as to what belongs in the advanced tech forum. If you are confused on where to put your post, chances are it belongs in General Help.

I will be updating the guideline post as we go along.

Jason, I got your mail and I replied.

And for future cases, this isn't a paging forum. I would like to keep this forum as technical as possible.

how exactly technical are we talking?
now that i think about it, transmission wise...
for some reason every now adn then when i go to reverse (M5), i get this terrible, earth shaking grind that the whole neighborhood can hear. that's with the clutch all the way in. is that just my car?

For questions on what belongs in this section, refer to the Welcome to the Advanced Technical Discussion Forum: Rules & Guidelines thread.

Basically.. advanced technical belongs here. Most of the stuff is still General Tech. Advanced technical will take more in-depth topics that require more specific info.

If you think the question is advanced but you only make a post with 2 line question, it will be moved to general tech. This forum is for in-depth conversation and analysis so be sure to make your post as detailed as possible.

I would like for tihs forum to be the one people search when they can't find the answer to their question elsewhere or are just looking for some reading material to learn from.

Everybody else is doing it... why can't I???

Actually everyone should read this....
This IS what advanced tech is about.

It should be bumped with the guidlines so people don't post about their tire pressures and CAI troubles...

Resurecting old posts fromt he dead is fun...

holy crap. I was actually looking for this one as I was pruning the section today. I weed out the bad posts and keep the good ones to help ease searches and readers. This way the don't have to go through crap to get to the technical info.

Wow.. this takes me back.
