When I installed my cam, I had 115k. I changed the timing chain, springs, retainers, and I didn't but most people changed their rods.

Have you had any problems with it? What type of cam do you have?

Nah, no problems yet. It just needs a tune bad, and I installed the GT2 camshaft.

I run a GT2 cam from ZZperformance. Must get it tuned after you put it in ($500 around) or it will run worse than stock cam. I did Comp. Cams Hi-Tech Rods, Comp Cams 110 lb springs (I think maybe 105), and ZZP retainers. Its manditory you replace your chain, it is just something that needs to be done. I also put in Comp. Cams Lifters (probaly needs to be done at your milage) Expecially with your milage. I'd also reaplace the rods etc in your car with its milage.

You also needs all the gaskets. I ordered mine from ZZP and it didnt include all the gaskets. If I remember correct you need lower intake gaskets, upper intake gaskets, front engine cover, valve covers, and water pump.

My set from ZZP didnt have a Water Pump or upper intake. In order to get your intake off you have to take the intake apart in two halves and you have to replace the upper intake gasket. What I dont under stand is why they gave me lower intake gaskets but no upper. They said it wasnt included in the kit, but to even get to the lower intake you have to take off the upper intake? Doesnt make much sense does it?

Then on top of that they sent my GTP gaskets instead of the ones I needed. They did send me the right ones for free. But by that time we had the car back together and just reused the old ones.

Good luck and look to spend about $1500 in parts to do it right and be insured its built right. Not worrying about bending a rod or floating valves etc....

You can expect around $150 for gaskets and fluid alone.

Absolutely not! I picked up a full second after just installing the heads and cam. I was looking at low 14s on stock suspension with no tuning. If you run worse with the cam, you've got problems....and not just tuning probs.

Mine put out 167 horses after installation of cam and headers and ran like a raped dog. After tuning it put out 223 HP 218 TQ. TQ was pathetic with no tuning. I wouldnt do it again without planning on tuning. Nothing was wrong with car other than way out of tune.

Knock sensors atleast need to be messed with. It may be hit or miss but my car ran like **** un tuned, you may have gotton lucky, IDK.

That's weird. My car ran perfectly right out of the box. LTFTs at like -0.7%, and not a hint of KR.

Not saying there's not alot to pick up with tuning, but it shouldn't run worse without it. I would say it was just that you were unlucky. ;)

I guess I was a little unlucky. A/F ratio was pretty close and timing was somewhat off and knock was bad. Wouldnt go over 4500 RPMs when floored and wouldnt shift if WOT.
