It depends on where you want to make the power. You're looking at two basic features of a cam - lift and duration (overlap comes in there too, but we'll ignore that for now). Lift is how far the vales open and duration is how long they stay open. Depending on if you want to change your power curve at lower or higher RPMs, that's what you will select for.

id want mostly lower rpms, but it would be nice for a nice midrange too

Your best bet is to go with a shorter duration and a greater lift then. This should give you a stronger bottom end and won't affect driveability or idle like a long duration cam will.

Not for the V6.... :shakes head:

You could toss the 206/212 grind in and still get more low end. Our Cars are UNDERCAMMED badly and almost any larger duration camshaft will result in an increase in power across the band.

Well, I will admit my cam experience is with V8s, and I'll agree that if the V6 is undercammed, longer duration will help across the band. But I wasn't recommending a shorter than stock duration, I meant that he should get a cam that emphasizes lift, not duration. If he can find a grind that has a slightly longer duration and a much greater lift (and 1.8 rockers maybe?), I think he will really like the bottom end improvements.

Until a "L36 edit" comes out bigger is definitely not better. Here's my suggestion:

                lift: ~.500
                duration: 206-214
                lobe sep: 112-115
